How powerful, Carla! I am so inspired to perform at my highest level at the "seat" I am currently in every time I hear you speak or read your work. I truly appreciate how you recognize the challenges we must all face in our careers but give specific recommendations and insight on how to move forward and excel in spite of. Thank you for that! Sireka Melton

Greetings Carla:

I really appreciate the guidance that you've offered on creating performance currency.

Carla, I was recently selected for a stretch assignment that required me to relocate with my company. While I am very proud to have been chosen for this assignment, I am not confident in my ability to make a huge impact in this role and on this team as it is completely out of the realm of what I would have pursued given how it aligns with my capabilities and given the dynamics of the team. However, I do have an agenda and that is in part to absorb all that I possibly can, give 200% of what I excel in and beyond and build a solid network. The area where I struggle the most is that I have absolutely nothing in common with the guys on my team. So my attempts to try to fit in often end up unsuccessful. Since I wasn't chosen by my current immediate leadership team to join the team but by another officer within the company who considered me to be a high potential, I feel as though my every word and step is being highly scrutinized as the team seeks to understand why I was THE chosen one. My question to you is: How do I build meaningful performance currency on a team that struggles with the acceptance of my being here and where I too struggle with being here. Rather than looking for the first train out of here in search of "the perfect match" for my skills and career aspirations, how do I set out to create high performance currency within my workgroup so that I can achieve organic positioning for better assignments and greater responsibility?

Ms. Harris, thanks so much for your wisdom and for your book. As an MBA, and a woman of color in the world of business, I so appreciate the comprehensive perspective you take to understanding how to identify, leverage, and fins support for your gifts personally and within an organization. The approach you outlined is awesome for being able to reflect and ourse-correct as necessary as my career progresses. Continued best wishes to you and success in your work. You are truly an inspiration.

This message is specifically for Carla Harris.

I am the young lady who was at Bishop's Jakes Breakfast of Champions. I am a member of the Potter's House and I know that my Pastor has a dynamic heart. He was willing to share a person of your magnitude personally with us.

I am in a position to prosper. God has set me in this position and I give all the Glory to his name. But I need guidance, and I know that God will put the right people in my path. I need an advisor, according to the Pearls you shared.

I'm the one that gave you the paper with the Solar Invention. I don't think, but I know that this invention has overwheming substance. If you can, please email me back. If not, pray for me. My brother and I realize that we need direction. We are not greedy people and we are willing to give and do what it takes to prosper this invention that God has given us. He is the inventor and I am his sponsor.
